Met with an Entrepreneur Delegate from our alma mater

On July 5, 2000, Yidao posted a note that an Entrepreneur Delegate headed by Prof. Guocheng Yang from our alma mater is currently visiting United States (see the original note below). In fact, Prof. Ping Yan is officially holding the highest administrative position among them. On July 8 to 10, 2000, they visited Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In addition to visit Yanlin Wang's, Jiancheng Tu's and Shui Qing Ye's labs, the delegate had a chance to visit the lab of Bert Vogelstein, who had been nominee for Nobel Prize several times and currently number one in Scientific Citation Index. The delegate witnessed several State of Art equipments and the newest Oncology research building under the tour guide of Yanlin Wang, who is working in the newest Oncology research building. On the eve of July 8, Yanlin Wang, a classmate to Guocheng Yang in Graduate school, entertained the delegate with a cozy dinner in a fine Chinese restaurant. On July 9, our oversea alumni association organized a lunch buffet to greet the delegate in Towson, Baltimore. There are total 17 people from Baltimore-Washington area who attended the event, including Zhi-Ming Zheng, our first president of HBMU who drove one and a half-hour to come to add the needed weight to the gathering. Jiancheng Tu, the president-elect of HBMU and a colleague to Guocheng Yang in Dept of Biochemistry for a few years, sponsored the lunch buffet for the delegate. He also spent time to show the delegate around Baltimore, so did Man Chen. On July 10, we saw off the delegate in Baltimore Railway station from where they headed to New York City. The delegate lodged in Shui Qing Ye' house for two nights. Although the host, Shui Qing Ye, a classmate in the Medical school and colleague to Guocheng Yang in Dept of Biochemistry for ten years, tried to be hospitable, the delegate may have not stayed as comfortable as in fancy hotel. On behalf of our alumni association, I'd like to thank Yanlin Wang and Jiancheng Tu to financially contribute to their visits, Jiancheng Tu and Man Chen to spend time with delegate, to everyone to attend the Lunch buffet to lend their supports. The delegate had an impressive visit to Baltimore-Washington area. I've been told our alumni, Yan Xu in New York, Mingyue Zhou in San Francisco, will roll red carpet to welcome their visits. We thank Yan Xu and Mingyue Zhou and other's effort to do so in advance. We wish the delegate's visit to United States fruitful and delightful.

An Entrepreneur Delegate headed by Prof. Guocheng Yang from our alma
mater is currently visiting United States. The Delegate has three members:
Professors:Guocheng Yang, Rulin Li and Ping Yan. They are the pillars of
Haite Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Company in Hubei Medical University.
One of their products, Thrombin purified from pig blood, has been widely
distributed in China. Their company is profiting and booming, which has been
a successful story in Wuhan of intellectual turned entrepreneurs. They have
made contributions to the development of teaching and researching infrastructure
of Hubei Medical University. Their company has attracted the visitors of some
VIP such as Hubei Provincial Governor and Zhili Chen, Minister in Dept. of
Education. The announced mission of their visits to the United States is to
open their horizon, promote exchange and seek cooperation especially from our
overseas alumni. If you or anyone you know has some medical products, they
would interest at contacting you and maybe sign some tentative agreement for
future cooperation. Please post this information at our website and also pass
the words to anyone who may be interested at this matter. When they come to
Washington-Baltimore area, we may have a sort of get-together. The time and
location of the get-together will be notified.
