Meeting Drs. Congxin Huang and Hongbing Yan
A casual and cordial meeting between several oversea alumni including
Ke Ren, Jiancheng Tu, Sheng Zhong, Yanlin Wang, Shui Qing Ye and Congxin
Huang, Hongbing Yan took place on the evening of May 16, 2000 at Great Green
Leaf Restaurant, Chinatown, Washington DC.
Drs. Congxin Huang and Hongbing Yan came to Washington DC to attend NASPE
(North America Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology) 2000 meeting. Dr.
Congxin Huang, Professor of Internal Medicine and President of the First
Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Medical University and Hubei General Hospital,
has been the mainstay of leadership in the recent development of the Hospital.
He is both an intellectual heft in the field of the Cardiology and a skillful
administrator in China. Although a bit affected by time shift, Dr. Huang was
still in high spirit to give an informal and brief introduction of The First
Affiliated Hospital and apprised the attendee of that the die had been cast on
the incorporation of Hubei Medical University into Wuhan University which had
then not made public yet. Dr. Hongbing Yan, Associate Professor and Vice
Chairman in the Dept. of Cardiology, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing,
obtained his Ph.D. in Japan and soon become a recognized specialist in his
field after he came back to China. Dr. Yan vividly recalled his student life
(Class 77) in Hubei Medical University and depicted his enviable and
successful profession in Beijing.
Several oversea alumni attended in turn conveyed to Drs. Congxin Huang and
Hongbing Yan the goal and annual activities of our overseas alumni
association. Drs. Congxin Huang and Hongbing Yan gave a thumbs-up on our
alumni association's activities and made some judicious suggestions. Oversea
alumni also praised Drs. Congxin Huang and Hongbing Yan on their active
participation on the international meeting to broaden their horizons and
garner the new information of their specialties.
The short meeting was a pleasant and informative event. On behalf of our
alumni association, I'd like to thank Ke Ren, Jiancheng Tu, Sheng Zhong,
Yanlin Wang for their participation and contribution to this event, especially
for Ke Ren, who picked up Dr. Congxin Huang from airport and arranged the
comfortable meeting place, and Jiancheng Tu, who had a relative long roundtrip
drive to "tax-drive" several oversea alumni.
